Marianne Miller
Marianne Miller was an accomplished pianist/organist, whose most cherished obligation was to First United Methodist Church of Talladega, where she resided as a regular organist spanning 44 years. She played at many different events and venues, and shared her gift by teaching many local children.
Her talents weren’t confined to music, however. Mrs. Miller was one of the original “Sarah’s Girl”, a title taken to honor her first art teacher, Sarah Whitson. She had a gift for painting and created numerous pieces in oils, drawing from her life and family history as inspiration. Heritage Hall Museum and many residents are fortunate to have some of her paintings in their collections.
A Talladega native, Mrs. Miller was intimately involved in her community and she shared her love of life, the arts, her family and the church with everyone. “She brought out the best in everyone and I will miss her a lot.” (Jean McMillan) She was a sweet, genuine person, who will be missed by everyone who knew her. (Margie McBride) She was a quintessential Southern lady and an immense talent. (Sally Lawrence)
