HERITAGE HALL MUSEUM LOCAL ARTIST SPOTLIGHTS



Assimina was born in Athens, Greece. She married Pete Hontzas and came to Talladega, AL in 1957. Sarah Whitson was her close friend and mentor and encouraged her to pursue her painting.



Bruce Strickland, who is one of the artists in the Local Artists: Past and Present. He works in oil.




Art is a strange and irresistible dream. A mind-blowing and enchanting place where all of the rules grow wings and fly away.








Greta and Wayne Waites. They are both carvers and woodworkers here in Talladega. Some of their beautiful pieces in the Local Artist exhibit are for sale. (Table and Angel) They work on commission too, custom furniture and all things wood!!!


Katie Davis. Born and raised in Talladega, currently a senior at UAB majoring in Art History and Studio Art. She is doing great things, exhibiting her art, exploring live streaming!!!
















Sarah Whitson, one of Talladega's most beloved artists, who was also instrumental in identifying and hosting many great art experiences at Heritage Hall Museum during her time as exhibition director.


Sondra Carlisle, an artist from Pell City. She works primarily in watercolor and is a Signature Bronze member of the Watercolor Society of Alabama. We are fortunate to have a piece of hers in the permanent collection, donated by the Montgomery family in honor of Ann Montgomery.
